The Listening Program
™The Listening Program is a music-based auditory stimulation method that trains the brain to improve the auditory skills needed to effectively listen, learn, and communicate. The Listening Program can benefit many different types of people including the typically developing child and individuals experiencing listening, sensory, learning, language, reading, attention, memory, social, communication, and auditory processing difficulties. Paradigm has speech therapists who are specially trained to administer the Listening Program
™ to any child who may benefit from this program.Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic Therapy is a unique approach to therapy that is fun and offers significant benefits, that are not always possible with land-based therapy. While the child is in the warm water it lessens the effects of gravity and reduces their body weight up to 90%. This reduces the danger of overexertion and encourages relaxation. While in our warm-water therapy pool each child works with an aquatic-trained occupational, physical, or speech therapist. The emphasis of the aquatic therapy program is on skill acquisition for land-based age appropriate activities including motor planning, coordination, strength and endurance.
Aquatic Therapy is especially helpful for children who have:
•
traumatic injuries•
bone, joint or muscle disorders•
neurological and developmental disorders•
sensory processing/integration disorders•
connective tissue diseases•
orthopedic injuriesAquatic Therapy often provides children with an increased sense of self-esteem and accomplishment because the water allows children to perform and facilitate movements that would otherwise be too difficult on land.
Groups
Focused groups offer children the opportunity to build social skills and friendships. This is a benefit unique to group therapy sessions. All groups are facilitated by therapists at Paradigm.
